TITUS

TITUS 1:15-16
TITUS 1:15-16
"15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed." (Titus 1:15-16)
According to a typical interpretation of the NEST, the "unbelieving" which are unbelievers of verse 15, are supposedly saved people. According to the wrong interpretation of the NEST, they, as saved people, profess to know God, but they really deny God. The consequence is that they lose their eternal spiritual salvation.
The NEST is wrong, and it is easy to see why when we simply recognize that Paul says that the "defiled" he is speaking of are unbelievers that merely profess to know God. Obviously they are fakes, which is made evident in the fact that they are unbelieving. Such people simply say they know God, but they really do not know God.
Therefor, it is clear that this passage does not remotely suggest that a true believer, which is one who is eternally spiritually saved in the miracle of regeneration, can lose eternal spiritual salvation, gain eternal spiritual salvation through meritorious effort, or maintain keeping it secure by meritorious effort.
