1 PETER
In This Section:
1 PETER 1:9
1 PETER 1:9
"9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls."
According to the typical interpretation of this passage by those who believe in the NEST, this is a warning statement rather than a statement of assurance. Consequently, it is asserted that this passage means that saved people run the risk of losing their faith. Once faith is lost, then the previously saved person becomes lost, and is damned forever in hell.
The NEST is wrong.
As an initial consideration, the passage does not state that one runs the risk of losing one's faith. Such language can not be found in the text, nor in the rest of the epistle. Instead, the passage states the blessed outcome of your faith. There is not much to add to this assessment other than the assertion that all truly saved people obtain as the outcome of their faith, the eternal salvation of their souls.
